The Battle of San Antonio: WWE vs. Ring of Honor

As the new age of interpromotional “battles” continue between WWE and any company Bullet Club works for, the next battlefield will apparently be in San Antonio, Texas.

Shawn Michaels as special guest referee at San Antonio NXT showRing of Honor has booked a show on November 17th in the city and WWE has also booked an NXT show almost literally down the street on the same night.

Cody, The Young Bucks, and Marty Scurll cut a promo on Ring of Honor television talking about WWE in a negative fashion and even invited the McMahons to come see the show. To counter this, NXT is having San Antonio’s favorite son and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels as special guest referee for the main event between Drew McIntyre and former Bullet Club member Adam Cole for the NXT Championship.

Now, The Young Bucks have announced that Stephen Amell will be at the Ring of Honor show. Amell was a former guest celebrity who actually wrestled in a match against Cody when he was Goldust, teaming with another WWE defector Neville.

The war continues in San Antonio …

NJPW Power Struggle 2017 Review

Perhaps in one of the most shocking nights of the year for New Japan, the Power Struggle 2017 event which is the last stop before WrestleKingdom, may be the start of an even bigger push for the company in 2018.

Tanahashi vs. IbushiWith a main event featuring the amazing encounter between IWGP IC Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kota Ibushi, the U.S. Title defense of Kenny Omega vs. Trent Barreta, Minoru Suzuki and Toru Yano in a bullrope “death match” for the NEVER Open Championship, and the continuation of the saga between Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship, this event had some truly outstanding matches.

Looming over all of this though were the debut and challenges of two wrestlers returning to NJPW. Both Chris Jericho and Jay White made their returns to the company and challenged the secondary champions for title matches at WrestleKingdom 12, lighting the pro wrestling and sports entertainment worlds on fire.

This is our review of a groundbreaking night as we look at NJPW Power Struggle 2017.

NJPW SHOCKER: Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega at WrestleKingdom 12

In one of the biggest shocks of this year, Chris Jericho appeared via video at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle show to challenge Kenny Omega to a match at WrestleKingdom 12.

You read that right. It’s happening. Alpha vs. Omega at WK12.

We discuss how this might have happened and what this might mean for the pro wrestling world going forward. Is it a big deal? Wasn’t Jericho still under WWE contract? What kind of match will it be?

WWE Releases Summer Rae, Darren Young, and Emma

On Sunday, WWE announced that it was releasing a few performers from its active roster. Included were Summer Rae, Darren Young, and most surprisingly of all Emma.

While Summer Rae isn’t much of a surprise given how limited she was as an in-ring talent and how WWE hasn’t used her as a character in months, the other two are somewhat of a shock. Darren Young was supposed to be part of the company’s initiative to include more LGBT characters on their shows while Emma just recently worked a high profile series of matches against RAW’s newest female star Asuka.

Bullet Club vs. WWE: Where Is It Going?

With the real life feud between WWE and The Bullet Club, fans today are getting the first taste of an actual interpromotional rivalry between companies in many years.

The question is, where is this all going? Will Bullet Club ultimately be hurt by the conflict? Is WWE creating bigger stars out of The Young Bucks, Cody, and Kenny Omega by their cease and desist orders and threats of law suits?

We examine the current feud and where it might possibly be going in the future.

The Young Bucks Being Sued by WWE for RAW Invasion?

The Bullet Club held an “invasion” of WWE Monday Night RAW this past week, much in the style of WWE/F’s own invasion of Monday Nitro back in 1998.

However, Vince McMahon and the higher ups may not have been so pleased with the stunt as it appears they have sent a cease and desist letter to The Young Bucks over the “suck it” gesture, the “too sweet” hang gesture, and various other issues that may see Nick and Matt sued for $150,000.

Vince McMahon Wants To Make WWE Pay Per Views Great Again

WrestleMania stageRecent rumors have reported that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wants to increase the quality of main event matches for WWE’s secondary pay per views.

Usually, during the time after Summer Slam and before Survivor Series, WWE shows tend to be a bit down in quality and importance. The recent No Mercy pay per view which featured two “Wrestlemania” quality matches (Reigns vs. Cena, Strowman vs. Lesnar) is part of an apparent new initiative to increase slumping house show attendance, WWE Network subscriptions, and RAW and SmackDown LIVE ratings.

The Dolph Ziggler SmackDown Promo That’s Three Years Too Late

Level Up

Dolph Ziggler is one of the most respected in-ring performers among many fans but his character has never really had the spotlight the way many thought he should have.

Ziggler mocking John CenaOn a recent edition of SmackDown LIVE, Ziggler debuted a new “gimmick” where he basically trolled the WWE Universe for liking the sizzle and not the steak.

Although this promo speaks a lot of truths about Ziggler, his career, the nature of the WWE Universe, and more, it’s perhaps three years too late for the former Money in the Bank winner.

We look at Ziggler’s promo, his mocking of Cena and Naomi, what it means for his future, and what WWE is likely to do with him going forward.
